Question #1:
diabetic menu for type 2 &type 1 with breakfast,lunch7dinner?
Pls provide the nutritional meassurement in the diet requiredQuestion #2:
Sound like a good reception menu to you?
We've had fun picking our wedding menu, and this is what we've decided:-Pepperoni and mozzarella manicotti (had to compromise somewhere... my fiance is obsessed with pizza!)
-Chicken strips with a variety of sauces
-Apricot sweet and sour meatballs
-Crostini
-Veggie platter with 2 dips (creamy pesto and cucumber and dill)
-Raspberry Mousse Brownies
-White chocolate mousse bars
-Boneless BBQ bites
-Fruit platter with yogurt dip
-Spinach salad with all kinds of fixings
-Iceberg lettuce salad with all kinds of fixings
For drinks we have
-Strawberry punch
-Water
-Tea
-And diet soda for our diabetic guests
We have no vegetarian guests, but we have a few with diabetes, so their health has come into account when we pulled our recipes to make the food. It's all safe for everyone to eat!
Is there anything you would add? Does it sound good to you?
Ashley: actually, I'm making the food myself. (I'm a culinary student) It's what my fiance wants, and I'm so happy he's interested in part of the wedding! And, I want people to be comfortable eating their food, not wondering what on Earth it is or if they should try it.
I'd love to add some alcohol, but we both have some alcoholic family members and we really don't want the ruining the wedding reception! So, we're saving the wine for our wedding night.
Fiance says the manicotti stays. Evidently it's not debatable. This chicken fingers are for the kids, something easy that they can eat, who wants to feed their kid something fancy like veal stuffed portabello mushrooms, you wouldn't catch any kid I know eating something like that. I want people to feel at home at my wedding instead of like guests, since they are my family! It's just me I guess. But seriously, we've been looking for other foods to add, we'd like to have a variety. Do you have any kid friendly, not too exotic things (the fiance's family is full of nuts, and my family has a hard time even thinking of eating stuff that seems exotic).

Question #5:
diabetic low carb eating out?
when i went to applebees a while back i ordered a veggie burger off the weight watchers menu that came with fruit. i asked the waitress to sub the fruit for a salad and they charged me extra and didnt even give me the fruit. another time i was at chilis and i ordered a diet coke. twice the waitress brings me a regular coke and gets upset with me when i point this out to her and ask for another drink. i actually had to tell her i was diabetic and i shouldnt drink regular sodas. has anyone had similar problems ordering out? im a new type 2 diabetic and i never thought going out to eat could be difficult. im also trying to lose a little weight. but i never thought trying to sub a salad or soup with an item could be such a fuss. how hard is it to get a diet soda or water? has anyone else out there had the same problems?i know it isnt a big deal, just bugs me. im trying to better myself and it seems like a hassle lol..

i havent seen a nutritionist yet so they can probably answer these question better for me.when i go grocery shopping and im reading labels. im confused as to what is good and bad. what is too much sugar in a product? if something like orange juice says 22 grams of sugar is that bad? plus my doctor said to stay away from carbs and fried foods. what is a good amount of carbs in a product? are sweetners ok? im a coffee drinker and im use to loading my coffee with sugar which i know is not good to begin with. are things with sweetners ok?
the doctor put me on medication and im waiting for my next appointment. it looks as if its type 2. no insulin yet. but everytime i eat i have a funny reaction to foods. i get lightheaded or shakey. other times i feel really nautious and get headaches. i want to make sure im eating properly to make that go away.
are there any restaurants that have menu items for people on diets or such? what should i eat if im stuck at mc donalds?
Question #8:
Why do people with diabetes have trouble losing weight?
My dad was diagnosed with diabetes 5 years ago. He is doing all he can to follow the doctors' guidelines. He has learned to limit his portions, does his exercises, but seems to not be able to shed much weight. Our family is concerned, as we don't want him to develop other health issues because of the weight. There has been no one else in our family with this condition. Since dad was diagnosed, he has met co-workers and neighbors who also have the same condition. Mostly all of them are heavy and seem to put on weight easily. What type of exercise would best benefit him? Is it just naturally harder for diabetics to lose weight? His doctor has given him a new eating guide, like a menu of the type of foods to eat, when to eat them and the quantity. But the weight loss seems to be happening at a very slow rate, that the new diet habits hardly seem to be helping him at all with the weight issue. Any other suggestions on how he can lose and keep the weight off?Question #9:

Gluton Free Diet Question ?
What is gluton ? I have houseguests that will be coming and have learned that one person is following a gluton free diet.Do you know if there are things that I need to have on hand , so that I have some things / proper food / preparation procedure on hand ?
Is there a gluten free store ? my grocery stores are international have a wide range. i can find sugar free / diabetic or fat free products ... but i do not see labels / aisles for gluten free. i am not even sure if my regular bottled waters / soft drink selection will be okay. I would like to have some beverage and snack choices. I am not sure of where to plan dinners out ? restaurants that would have menus / options to accomodate this special dietary need.
Is there a website / or reference you know that explains what sort of a diet this is ? I did not get the impression that this is like a low call kind of a diet / that this person needs to have this or they will become sick.

Need help with my husbands diet?
My husband went to the doctor today and he has to go on a very strict diet. His cholesterol is 154, bit his triglycerides are over 650 and his blood sugar was at 122. He is at a high risk for pancreatitis and is getting to be pre-diabetic.I have been doing research online and so far have come up with no alcohol, sugary foods, white food products (pastas, breads), limit butter and whole milk, no deep fried foods, and cut red meats to minimal. The good foods I came up with are more fruits and vegetables, poultry and fish (but not fried), dark green leafy vegetables, brown rice, wheat breads and pastas, oats, barley, and use extra virgin olive oil instead of butter.
Does this sound like a good menu? Is there something else I should add to either the good or bad foods?
To B B, I try to pay attention but he is stubborn and wouldn't listen to me until today. If I made something he didn't want he simply wouldn't eat it.
Monetspiccaso, my husband hasn't drank much since we found out we were going to have our son (about 2 years now), but thank you very much for your concern about his alcohol intake.
Klb_72, thanks for the menu idea.
Question #19:
I need a diabetic diet to follow for the lady I work for.. she's 86..?
Her blood sugar levels have been running normal in mornings but by noon the past couple of days have been over 500! She is on 15 units insulin (novolin N) daily... ( 5 more units at lunch, if it's high) We've been to dr./hospital all afternoon today... did bloodwork there's nothing (else)"wrong" causing sugar levels to soar. I'm not a nurse nor a dietician... I feed her 2 meals daily.. ( other person feeds her supper) I have been basing meals on total grams sugar per serving on cereal in mornings... just realized that the carbs and starches will turn to sugar! I feel somewhat responsible for this bacause I just didn't know (neither did she!) I could read from now till doomsday... but would appreciate some knowledgable person suggesting a very simple menu for me to follow. she eats toast with sugarfree jelly at lunch, sometimes... the bread is carbs, right? I'm just confused and time is of the essence... I appreciate any and all comments!I was hired because her levels would DROP.. and she'd be "out of it".... I knew what to do to get it up quickly... but now that it's running much higher, was unsure of a quick fix to pull them down... (yes, I just left the dr's office... they did tests but were so busy... too busy! ) besides a new dr.. can you please help us??
